003 : Tom Croose ‘Cho Chua’
Having played host to the first two Daphni Edits 12’s, Resista return with the label debut of one Tom Croose.
One half of NY duo Worst Friends, Tom’s previous discographic output was a limited & stamped 7” that featured a killer edit of the Mac’s “Never Going Back Again”. For Resista No. 3 he delves into territories Brazilian, with “Cho Chua”, a faultless rework of a certain Tropicalista, designed for discerning dancefloors, circa AD 2011. He loops up the swinging guitar intro, which combined with the vocal hook makes for a heady mix. It’s an uplifting, joyous ode to all things tropical!
On the flip the ‘Dukes Dub’ is a subtler more restrained version that makes greater use of effects and surprisingly brings the songs percussive elements to the fore… Not quite as direct as its sibling on the a-side but definitely as effective!
